A humble beginning

Ralph Silverman served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a navigator during World War II. After the war, he studied chemistry at Indiana University on the G.I. Bill.

In 1960, Ralph and his wife Marilyn moved their young family to California to start a new business. Maintex began as a manufacturer of floor wax and other cleaning chemicals. The name is a contraction of the words “maintenance” and “technology.”

In the 1970s, second-generation Stu and Linda Silverman joined the business and accelerated it’s growth. From humble origins, Maintex has become the largest manufacturer-distributor of cleaning products in the Western United States.v
